DIY Lace Easter Eggs

Easter is around the corner and it’s time to get creative with those eggs! To create your own elegant eggs (that make the perfect Easter table centerpiece when gathered together in a nice bowl), simply add a little color and lace! This project is so easy you’ll have time left over to actually dip dye those real eggs with your kids and you’ll have these leftover to bring out next year!

Supplies:
Wooden eggs
Colorful spray paint (or acrylic brush on paint if preferred)
Modge Podge or other glue that dries clear
Foam brush
Lace (here we used lace trim)
Sewing scissors
Clear polyurethane finish
Egg carton

Instructions:

Start by painting your wooden eggs. An easy way to do this is to lay each wood egg out on an upside down egg carton (that you don’t care about anymore as it’s about to get messy) and spray a very thin coat of spray paint over the eggs. Wait until dry, flip over, and do the same to the other side. Continue rotating the egg and spraying until the egg is fully covered and paint is evenly applied. If you paint drips you can sand it down with a thin grit sand paper before reapplying the next coat of paint. The other option is to brush pain (a foam brush works well) the egg and let dry.

Once the eggs are painted (here we went with a solid teal hue but you could get creative and do multiple different colors in your favorite pastels or even keep the wood au natural!), add the lace. Cut a piece of lace proportional to your egg with your sewing scissors.

Adhere the lace to the egg with a thin coat of Modge Podge applied to the part of the lace that will stick against the egg. Manipulate the lace so that it wraps around the egg evenly and gathers at the back of the egg (so your eggs will present belly up). Let dry

Optionally, add a thin coat of polyurethane finish to your eggs (this will add a little bit of shine if you use a gloss or semi-gloss). Again use the back of your egg carton to spray the eggs. Let dry and display for the big day!
